That's a very good point, though probably practically unenforceable unless there is already a record of the deeds still actually existing. Perhaps EH should be able to hold them as banks/solicitors used to do before Land Registry was invented (yes, another bit of wishfuil thinking!).Pford75 said:In my view, destroying deeds to a LB should require LBC.
We have three filing cabinet draws full of deeds and other old documents relating to our house, dating back to when it stood in 255 acres of land. Unfortunately, the developer who bought the entire estate in 1959 was responsible for parcelling it up and gradually selling it off for development.
I know people have to live somewhere and I'm sure all the villagers enjoy their new homes but it somehow seems a shame that we can no longer walk the 1/3rd mile across open fields to the church. Such is 'progress' I suppose.
