Hello all, I live in a roughly 1800s weatherboard terraced row of cottages. Last night we were driving mad by the tapping of the death watch beetle. Sounded like just one, and I know they like damp. Our wood frame windows have been leaking for the past few years, we think we've sorted it out now, but I was wondering does anyone know if the death watch beetle could live outside? Perhaps in the damp weatherboards or in the window. Are there any other signs to look out for other than the tapping? Tonight has been totally quiet so I'm wondering if it might have just moved on to the neighbours? Or perhaps I just imagined it? Or maybe they are just waiting for me to go to bed before they start their tapping!
