If that draws a blank, cellulose thinners is the same stuff (acetone, as Nemesis says). You should be able to buy it from anywhere that sells car paints.

Just one further thought. I should be a bit careful about how much of it you slosh about. If it soaks in too much, I suspect there's a risk that it could (a) dry out the wood, and (b) threaten the glue that's been used to laminate your worktops.

I'm not certain about those risks, but better safe than sorry, so I should be as sparing with it as you can.

Thanks for the warning, Penners. I think I was possibly a bit over-generous with the acetone, so will be much more careful when I do the remaining sections.
As you say, better safe than sorry. And I must keep reminding myself that the aim is only to make it easier to sand (that danish oil is really tough stuff!)
