condensisng boiler question

What has he to do to commision the boiler?
And do you owe him anything?
I can't remember but have you got the boiler there?atall?

The boiler is now there (finally) as far as I know all he has to do now is connect it to the gas and fit the flue and its ready to go...

Why don't you inform him that if he doesn't complete by Friday. He won't get paid,
you'll blow him of the job.(builders slang, not rude, sometimes you have talk that way to them especially when they keep letting you down)
And because of his past record of saying, he'll do this, and that, and he doesn't do anything he says his going to do, like saying I'll be there this evening and not turn up, no reasons given.
And get someone else in like British Gas. I don't know anyone else.
(On oil for the past 10 yrs)

don't worry.. I'm not prone to suddern bursts of anger.. in fact wonder if I'm in this mess cos I've kept too cool.. a good strop earlier might have pushed things along.. besides my best friend since I was 12 is now a rather good lawyer so if they don't sort it out soon I won't get mad.. ok... plumber actually turned up yesterday.. <IMG SRC="http://www.periodproperty.co.uk/discussing/smileys/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=""> he says it should be fine as the pipe is open both ends (hopper at the top which the bath and basin waste pipes flow and a lip at the bottom to direct the waste into the drain) and only about 8ft long so there should be nowhere for the acidy stuff to sit long enough for it to eat into the metal and cause damage.. he also reckons rain would help wash it though as the top of the hopper is open but I'm a bit dubious about that as you can stand next to the wall of the house in anything but absolutely torrential rain and stay perfectly dry so I can't see that helping much... does this sound correct and reasonable to people?

I would not worry about it myself.

If I have understood correctly the worst case scenario is that the metal pipe will have to be replaced at some date in the future?

It sounds like it is accessable and can be replaced?

If so keep an eye on it and if it does go then replace it. By the sounds of it the chances are slim that it will be eaten through.

Its ended up still running into the castiron, but after it meets the waste from the bath so (according to the plumber) as long as I have a bath at least once a week it should flush everything away without damage.. its in plastic until the last short (about 8ft) length of vertical cast iron pipe with an open hopper at the top so he says it won't sit anywhere long enough to cause corrosion.. I'm still dubious about it but after you've had 5 weeks without hot water/ bathroom you get uninclined to make them take stuff out once they've finally fitted tha blooming boiler.. <IMG SRC="http://www.periodproperty.co.uk/discussing/smileys/frown.gif" BORDER=0 ALT="">
