:lol: That house isn't too far from me, just a walk across the heath! Much too much trouble though, much better to have somewhere smaller that you can just lock up and leave. I knew you'd think that, but it demonstrates that even within London, location makes a huge difference. Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea are more sought after than Hampstead and Highgate. One Hyde Park has made a name for itself as the place for a London pad for a lot of very rich non doms, many were sold with all the kit to people who do basically want it to look like a hotel. I did see the stats on nationality of owners and I think there were a fair few Russian and Far Eastern people. I believe you can order food from the actual hotel next door, so once I had taken away all the bland beige decor and installed some more exciting things and lots of elephants, I wouldn't have to bother with the tiresome job of organising food

That apartment looks most suited to elephants, with the long low sofas and the wide hallway. Just not sure that they'd fit in the bathtub though, and you know how particular elephants are about their bathing habits.....

I did think of offering an impromptu gathering after I met up with Moo and Juju, but unfortunately I was in the middle of deciding what to do about finding a couple of bugs munching on the carpets. I gave the offending beasties a blast with some nasty chemicals, but even though I would have liked to leave it at that the sensible thing to do was a very thorough treatment. So lovely playtime has had to give way in part to serious furniture moving. Followed by the very arduous task of flipping carpets and then the donning of a mask and more sprinkling of insecticide. Things are currently marinading under dust sheets, and must be vacuumed and put back in place before His Lordship arrives. I suppose a PPUK party where everyone has to wear dust masks would be very much in the spirit of the forum................

Would probably only be an extra mil to install a wet room big enough for an elephant :wink:

Dust sheets and dust masks sounds preferable to the accommodation I had in London this week - A Premier Inn in Earls Court, with a bedroom overlooking a railway cutting, through which tube trains rattled noisily every 30 seconds or so.

True, and you would be most welcome to come and rest your hooves under the kitchen table and graze on the contents of the fridge, which at the moment is 2 portions of soup, some raspberries, muesli, milk and bread and butter.
