I made a comfortable living from both sheet and decorative leadwork but, despite all the years I spent learning the dark arts of decorative leadworkmy business was bolstered by a contract I had for filling counterweights with lead which, to all intents and purposes was just donkey work melting tons of lead and pouring it into the weights

Yes. I should do more donkey work. Problem is most of the 'pellet and pinhole' donkey work is being carried out by newly assimilated low skilled operatives. Not sure I could go back there anyway tbh. There isn't much scope left!
