It says 'ere that NBT Trade Emulsion contains:
Water, dolomite, clay, vinyl-acrylic polymer, ropaque, titanium dioxide, thickener, cellulose, mineral oil antifoam, acrylic dispersing agent, caustic soda, chlorine free preservative

I notice you're concerned about opacity, The technical sheet says: Please note that due to the uniquely low TiO2/resin formula the paint appears more translucent on first application than standard emulsion paints, although it will dry to a trade standard opacity. Do not therefore apply additional paint unnecessarily. Apply the paint at the normal rate and in the normal manner.

Yes, clay paint dose much the same, goes on like wallpaper paste (almost) and dries to a colour. I’ve just decorated a small bedroom with clay paint changing the colour from lemon to off white. It took three coats with a roller amounting to about eight litres of paint, so two tubs each at £40 +.
I wanted to get the same off white colour in an adjoining corridor which is currently marine blue. I think I will probably need six coats there and a couple of hundred quid just in paint and that’s only about one tenth of my house hence the reason I’m looking for an alternative.
What do you think about the breathability of the NBT stuff and are those ingredients something to be avoided?

The fact that Mike Wye, Ty Mawr, and other sell the NBT paints, seems to indicate that they are probably "OK". I'm going to seriously consider using it.
I have no idea about the ingredients, but to be fair, this is paint we're talking about, not organic yoghourt. :wink: Any paint other than the simplest washes has to contain 'stuff' of some kind.
The corridor you mentioned - are the walls all internal? How breathable is the paint that's already on the wall - maybe that's a factor in your choice of paint?

Well said! I think it's very easy to get a bit carried away about paint. If it's on a critical external wall and breathaility is important, then of course the choice of paint should be made carefully. The problem is that most houses have a window in every room i.e. an external wall therefore
if breathability is required then a breathable paint has to be used on every wall in every room
Otherwise the miss match of breathable paint on the external wall and non breathable paint
on the internal walls in each room would be visually noticeable.
