Chimney Relining

I have a nice old victorian house with a nice old victorian fireplace that I use about 6 times a year over christmas and I have access to a lot of wood on my doorstep.
I am not going to be putting a fekking stove in there and the minimal amount of carbon I create I really don't give a damn about.
I'll care about my carbon footprint when the government do. And they don't. And it's state control. But that's another thread. For a different website.
To go back to the original question, has anyone had any work like the ceramic stuff done on their leaky chimney? Is it any good?

I completely agree, Spot. If I had a nice old fireplace like that I'd keep it too.

Spot, my only worry would be the rigidity of the lining. Should your house move and settle or start moving, would the liner crack.
Can the installers give you any guarantees with regard to that point?

Twin-wall flexible flue liners aren't regarded as a permanent solution, they have a guaranteed life-span of 20 years or so,burning the approved fuels (seasoned wood); see the guide. Damp wood or non-approved solid fuel will reduce the life significantly.

Some open fires (dog baskets) have a negative efficiency, they remove more heat through ventilation than they emit into the room.
