Chimney damp caused by stove, does this sound faesible?

Our chimney isn't as tall as yours, but is also very wide - my husband managed to install our flexible liner by climbing most of the way up it! We took the view that it would take several skip loads of vermiculite to backfill it and instead used Rockwool sleeving to encase the liner - quite easy to install.
