Hmm - 'interesting' use of terminal strips. :shock:

A bit too 'interesting' for my liking. :?

I'm pleased to say our electrics are far less interesting than they were when we moved in.

Never seen so many junctions in one house. Or rubber insulation. Although when I say junctions, I mean connectors.

Ah, real 'period' electrics then? ....can't be doing with vintage electrics I'm afraid.

Me neither. One of the really good early decisions I made was to NEVER use the existing electrics which were awful; I got it all disconnected at the mains and had a small new consumer unit fitted; we then ran two extension leads from that to wherever they were needed. I think the second fix electrics was done about six months later, and in that time I knew that I could cut any old wire with confidence - and there was an awful lot of it, in all sorts of places, mostly of extemely poor quality.

Equally, of course, in doing so much plastering, a lot of the new wire was easily fitted inside lath walls with no plaster. Mind you, at one time I did find the electrician about to use his b*****y little jack hammer thing on a perfectly good stone wall!
