I never said you could make cider from Bramleys - you can make wine however. It's very good.

I said:

'I find that making wine is actually better than cider, you get more alcohol for your apples'

We have sweeter apples too. We buy cider and perry from a farm when on hols and bring it home.

Here's ours, there are fragments of pink, white and ochre limewash clinging to the stonework revealed so far. Above the cement render on the back is a large section of lime plaster with various layers of pink and red limewash which has survived because the register plate was lowered - just visible below the beam in photo.

They are real cooking hearths - wonderful.

Mine is a late 18th c space for a simple range.

The other one has worn knife-sharpening stone too!
