Good grief - if that bathroom "renovation" cost anything like the $45,000 quote, then I'm in the wrong business... :shock:

We had one of the bathstore.com slipper baths in our last house - modern, but very nice and not as quickly cooling as the cast iron bath we put into the house before that. A safety tip when installing a cast iron upstairs - make sure you tie a rope through the tap holes and around something solid upstairs (solid newel post or something substantial) and have someone keep tension on the rope. Ours slipped a little with me behind it - the rope prevent serious injury...

The Elfin Saftee will probably suggest better ways of doing this then a rope!

Also, make sure your floor and joists can take the weight when it's full of water!!

you know in all fairness if you put a shower over a freestanding bath and dont use a curtain , why would you be surprised when your floor boards rot? and if you put a free standing bath up against a wall then yes , of course you wont be able to clean the wall behind it.
i dont think i would ever put a cast iron bath on an upper floor , that would hurt if it came down ontop of you.

The thing that amazed me was how anyone could spend so much on a bathroom that instantly looked like it was made in 1980 ! I only found it as I put "tin bath" in Google images for Joce's 6 grand tin bath!
