Cleaning is a bit like a profit and loss account rather than a balance sheet.

It's not the quantity of dirt present on any given moment that matters, its the relative total quantities deposited and removed over a year.

My sister is coming to stay tonight, and I've told her she'll have to sleep on the floor in my room, because a warthog wouldn't even want to sleep in any of the other rooms.
Ought to clean up I suppose. I just always seem to find more important things to do, and it's going to get dirty again anyway....

If it's any consolation, I've just finished doing my online self-assessment tax return, a task which makes watching paint dry look like an engaging alternative option.

Of course at the end of it is the unpleasant but not unexpected revelation that I owe HMRC some money, due to some Tory b@@@@@@ changing the child benefit rules.

By the time you have shared a few bottles of something alcoholic she won't even notice. Then in the morning you can survey the state of the place and say, "well that was some party wasn't it?"

Would you believe it? She helped me fix some laths above the doorframe for the cupboard under the stairs, and we made even more mess!
We also looked at the photos of how the house was when I bought it three years ago. It helps to remember how far you've come!

I personally find it more of a nag with the cleaning call when the main rooms of your house are pretty much finished and you are happy with your cleaning routine, then along comes the next DIY project (which ALWAYS takes a lot longer and makes a lot more mess than anticipated!) and suddenly your routine goes to poo, there's dust all over the telly, the mantel and goodness knows what else and the tea is late, etc etc. I'd say a building site with one decent room for home comforts is not such a bad thing, plus the odd take-away! Cleaning was not on my radar as much when we were in that state! Positives in everything I'd say!!

this is about to happen to us.

We move into our unfinished renovation this coming weekend! We've been renting a house nearby up till now but we really need to get in the house to save on rent+mortgage, double council tax, bills etc.

Currently we have about 50% of the plaster work done, and only 2 internal doors hung. Building materials, tools, half cut kingspan, plasterboard, wood all over the place.

Our living room is what will be the one of the kids bedrooms and the bedroom will sleep all 4 of us.

Still, cant wait to get in, living between 2 houses is a nightmare.
