Can someone please explain how I've ruined my house?

We currently have four paper globe lampshades in our house. Neither poverty nor indecision were significant factors. They do the job. What's the problem?

I remember buying my first one in Habitat in ~ 1970.

Exactly my sentiments - we have five paper globes and four bare bulbs, which used to have paper globes until they came to pieces because the paper got brittle with age. Paper globes from Habitat go with book shelves made from planks on bricks, rubber plants and magnolia paint (we no longer have these last three, though) They show your age.
