The couple tonight, who have only lived in comfortable modern houses, spend two years in a caravan on site while they restore a Jacobean farmhouse. Charlie Luxton is the likeable presenter.

No, David, it's not a sign of age any more. The wheel has gone full circle and lots of trendy young people are now devotees. I've even heard earnest discussions about what constitutes the perfect soldier!

I'm sure she's spot on, David.
But I'm ever so slightly concerned about the way you always refer to her as 'the present Mrs Penrose' - how many Mrs Ps have there been? or are you intending to replace her at some time in the future?

In my generation there has so far only been one Mrs P. However, one should never take such things for granted, and it's always best to keep people on their toes.

At least, that's what she says whenever she threatens to trade me in for a more up-to-date model.

Yes, it's a question which has been forming in my mind too... However, I'm sure that there aren't period properties throughout England with former Mrs P's buried under the patio while David moved on, using the life insurance payout to fund his lust for more and more beams and greater sizes of bressumer.

For one thing I am sure David never had anything as lower clarss as a patio (a terrace yes, dahlings, patio NO) and for another I believe victims are buried in the concrete under. So a definite no no there.
