This is one of the fastest tests I have ever achieved, although it still seems lower than it should.

Your IP profile is the maximum you will ever get as this is the limit imposed by the exchange. Yours is a little low (again suggesting there is noise on the line) but its probably not worth mucking about with ring wires etc to try and improve this.

Try the test again during evening peak time (7:00pm to 8:00pm I think) and see if it drops markedly. If so, exchange contention looks likely. You only have TalkTalk as a LLU operator in your exchange and they are not recommended so options that way are limited.

MdB - do you know anything about BT's 'i-plate' master socket?
I've not tried it but have read that it can reduce interference from the telephone bell wire and can sometime result in a significant speed increase.

I've no direct experience with the i-plate, but removing the bell wire can improve performance so I can see that it should work.

The better solution though is to have an ADSL faceplate on the master socket. This removes all the internal wiring from the ADSL circuit and so gives maximum possible performance. The downside is that either the modem has to be next to the master socket or you need a dedicated ADSL cable run from the master socket to your modem (not parallel to other telephone wires or mains cables).

7616 is the maximum sync speed with interleaving switched on so Jon's connection is close to this. The ideal profile with these synch speeds is 6500 kps so Jon is getting this also. There is not any point in Jon mucking about with his wiring as it will make no difference to the IP profile so nothing will be gained. For others there may be a significant gain - Router stats and IP profile give the info needed to make this judgement.
