No you shouldn't, you should give me grief and get me to back up my arguments. I purposefully don't use the selection of scrabble tiles before and after my name because it predisposes people to regarding me in a certain way. Its like swearing: less use for more effect. Handy for dealing with architects though. :wink:

I read this forum to learn things about building conservation I don't know, just like everyone else. I'm a wood scientist by training, not a building conservator and there are aspects of architecture and building design that arise during the course of what I do that need to learn. If I educate a few people along the way, thats good too.

No offence taken at all. I'm sure your basement will turn out fine. I was more irritated at the recommendation than the recommendee.

Someone from that company posted a long, long time ago on the old forum about how they had 'saved' Brighton Pavillion from a 'so called' damp expert through the use of some treatments that would be frowned upon were they to be tabled now. I kept a print out for posterity.

I remember the post.
