Or indeed the Pedant's Revolt... or was it the Pedants' Revolt?

Do we need capitals?

Oh come on folks, let's be nice to the dearies. I'd love Channel 4 to come and film my work. I've got an 18th century garden wall that collapsed in the storms and eathquakes earlier this year that I will be rebuilding this summer (if I get round to it). They could film me bricklaying. At the speed I work it could fill several episodes and they could do a second series watching the lime mortar set. Gripping stuff.

Hasn't it been done before? Gervase and the eternal (and eternally cheerful...) lime pointing, interspersed with the cow muck and, as highlight, a sort of manufactured (by the prog makers) dispute about a fireplace? Restored to Glory? (Or Destroyed to B*gg*ry in some cases.)

I presume that Gervase's child bride is still around and not buried under the limecrete over that one...

Never mind, maybe the prog makers can follow the saga of the removal of the window boxes and the balcony on the water tower, presumably this time without the intervention of a government inspector, and I understand there are some further small difficulties re things not being as they ought, but it's all on TV so it must be OK. It's entertainment.

But hey - after your reading of bus timetables on R4, we are looking forward to you thrilling the nation again with the brick wall affair... and this time in glorious technicolour...

Excuse my mirth, but are you suggesting that a TV programme can't be made because the idea has been used before?

If that were the case, I suspect we'd be staring at blank screens 75% of the time.

I note that many of the posts have now been removed... have we been the victims of a TROLL? Never mind. We don't much care I think.

Channel 5 could come and watch me decorate, poor darlings have an annual budget and probably will not get much more than that with a proper conservation job!

I had the same when Restored to Glory came, they came twice firstly to ask if I wanted to be on a show filming the begining, the middle and the end of a project in 9 months. I laughed, well I have been at it for 51 months now! ( almost finished though)

However they came back to ask if I would feature in an educational program at the end of the series as not one of the 7 projects had finished at that point, so I let them come.

Please film makers understand heritage is irreplacable when ruined. Just be careful how you feature what you follow it could be taken as a green flag for illegal development all over the country.
