Well certainly it’s the biggest variable that differs between the two walls. However the sand colors were very similar I must say. The other thought I had was maybe the finer-grain on the sand used for the whiter left wall’s coat allowed me to work more of the “fatty” component to the surface when I was applying it, which was inherently more lime-rich and therefore turned whiter on the surface.Just a thought but.... have you considered that it may be the sands used in each of the walls?
I'm thinking that differences in base colour, grain size and refraction qualities/capabilities may be at play here?
