Curves? That's a new one on me. I've seen wiring ran diagonally quite a few times, to make a run as short as possible, but never ran in a curve..... why would anyone do that?

It seems obvious to me that the cable was curved across the wall because it seemed aesthetically correct to do it that way.

Well it could be described as artistic:

"exiting from the bottom of the socket, performing a curve approximately 12 inches in diameter to the right of the socket, then running up the wall, and curving back to exit through the ceiling 8 feet above the socket and 12 inches to the left of it."

Beautiful, sweeping curves.

What was more worrying was the 2 electric showers and 1 cooker being run from one circuit breaker on the consumer unit. :shock:

Well, at least the worst that should happen is that the trip blows if someone tries to take a shower whilst the oven is on. I hope the circuit is RCD protected for the showers though.

We've got 2 quite high rating electric showers here, I've not worked it out but I suspect if we ran both at once then the load would be too much and it would trip the incoming MCB. But they are at least on seperate circuits, and the cooker is gas!

Perhaps they relied on the temperature of the supply cable for their central heating. :roll:
