Bathroom progresses- coping with chaos!

Does the Christopher Wray lighting company still exist? I had lots of lights from him over the years----left them in each house that I sold --stupid thing to do but they wrer bought specifically for those houses!---There are now chandeliers that are part p cleared for bathroom-- M & S do one amongst others.

Last time I looked it did Joss, but that was a while ago and they appeared to have gone all modern I've not checked recently though. For a while - when we lived in Hampshire - there was a branch in Southampton. This was where we purchased our (non) bathroom chandy as well as a few art nouveau type slag glass shades and lamps. I still regret not getting a cat (with green glass eyes), a snail and large 'oyster girl' lamps. Occasionally a snail has popped up on eBay, but I've only spotted them after they've sold :roll: We also have some vintage CW wall lights and other bits. Every time we've moved we have taken majority of our light fittings with us, although we did leave that bathroom chandy as well as a pair of hanging cherubs with crystal droplets at the Hants house

Interesting reply Mims-----I used to go up to London and choose the lights---one memorable occasion was to choose a chandelier for my Mama's drawing room---she had an apartment in Aynho Park when it was part of the Historic House association-the room was over 20 ft high. I was accompanied by a dear friend of mine who stands only just 5ft tall------he was totally dwarfed by the shop display, but after a quick look upwards, and craning his neck he pointed out the perfect chandelier---beautifully reeded arms with elegant candles---it was just perfect-- wonder what has happened to it !! Somehow modern lights don't rock like well made period style lights. I am pleased to see that Jim Lawrence has held firmly to the style of his light fitments, with just the merest nod towards modern day living .

What a lovely story Joss.

The mess continues and pervades most rooms. I feel disgustingly unwashed as I'm just having all over body washes and hair washes in the sink. The car has died so I can't get to the tennis club very easily. I'm having to do an awful lot of walking with no car, which is taking me away from the bathroom work!


But, Chris is making progress with the back boiler. For now he's drilling a few holes but I'm nagging for him to remove the whole thing which will mean rebuilding the fireplace but gives the best peace of mind.

Not a photo you'll see too often these days - the draining of the back boiler, which has been in use right up until this time since its installation in the 30s!
