It is from an Italian castle floor. The Castle was demolished mid last century and my wifes great uncle salvaged it, or so the story goes. It would have been an impressive floor in its entirety.

Am considering as a wall hanging, not sure of its age.

I did ponder that, it is a bit uneven therefore could be difficult.

I have some slabs of burr oak earmarked for the table.

I once saw a very weathered ships hatch cover, that was imbedded in a clear polyester block, used as a dining table. About 4' X 10' X 5" thick.

If you have time to kill Jon, or you get snowed in, you could actually invent some sort of game to complement the intricate pattern of that surface. Hey presto!!, the new (beat the economic crisis game ?????) becomes a huge success and that table top sold with it's full history could make you ( or your great grand children) an absolute fortune.
