Isn't that taking the forum's mania for this breathable material a bit far?

Will it mean that it's safer for teenage mothers-to-be to carry on smoking and drinking during their pregnancy?**
Anyway, what about fluoridation of drinking water? I don't like the idea of mass medication either but my son has only got one filling whereas I have a mouth full of them - and, before you ask, he was terrible at cleaning his teeth regularly until girls arrived on the scene (why do they always make us chaps clean up our act?).
**OK, cheap shot, guilty as charged. Although, ironically, it's probably biologically safer for teenage girls to have babies than 30- or even 40-somethings.

Funny thing with fluoride, it can actually CAUSE problems with the enamel, when "overdosed"making it white and chalky and infact MORE prone to caries, also it can "mask" areas of decay so that the outside of the tooth looks fine but the caries works away under the enamel and eventually the tooth enamel cracks off, in the worst cases leaving just the root ( with nerve exposure in some cases) in place, All that glisters is not gold !
As dental science progresses, we discover some amazing things, there does seem to be a genetic link to caries resistance, and so much more , but for now at least the best advice is still regular thorough brushing and flossing to remove the plaque, and watching what we eat between meals, to maintain the oral acid at about 5. FIN XX

 I don't think we've had teeth on the forum before! 8)
Can I just pass on my ancient technique? Bicarb of soda is better than any toothpaste - if you have the understandable evidence of the stresses and strains of owning a period property- ie: coffee, wine stains - a clean dishcolth, dipped in bicarb, and polished on teeth, works wonders. Fine wire wool is even better.
Now judrop will tell me I'm murdering my teeth.
