We have 6x 7W GU10s in the bathroom together with a single halogen 35W which is part of the extractor fan so can compare.
Once warmed up, I would say that the CFLs are almost but not quite as bright at the halogen though the beam shape is different so it is difficult to compare exactly. They do take a long time to get to full brightness and I wouldn't like them in the kitchen for example. In the bathroom though it is an advantage when you visit half asleep during the night.
