Actually Joce and I are stalking Penners, but he doesn't seem to mind, which raises the question of whether it can be classed as stalking at all.

Joce, which ever designer number you wear, make sure its lime plaster colour as you will get covered with splashes :lol:

I'm really pleased I went on the course. I know you can't learn a lot in 1 or 2 days but how much would you learn on any course which ran for the same length of time ? The more you practise then the better you get. Remember that lime is far more forgiving than the modern pink stuff, I have done both, you have much longer to work with lime. I have replaced all but one of the upstairs partion walls here, they were hardboard and I have done 2 ceilings and gypsum plaster sets so quickly that I put off doing it for as long as possible, then my other half mixes it for me and I put it on. I much prefer to stand there with my bucket of ready to use lime stuff knowing that I can wander off to make a coffee and come back and do some more. I wish I had had the opportunity to do something like that when I left school rather than being told by the careers teacher that being a typist was what girls do. I think I have building skills envy :lol:

It's never too late!

I used a period builder last year who until four years previously had had a career in corporate finance. And I agree on plastering - I hate the modern stuff; partly because it is so difficult to work with and get a good finish. I love lime for that very reason - I can get a reasonable finish commensurate with my farmhouse.

I fear that it maybe too late for me. At 47, I can't see a limeplasterer taking me on as their apprentice, the noise of my clicking knees and hips would be too much for them. Mind you, I could balance the plaster on my walking frame and I could fit one of those cyclist water bottle holders for my water sprayer, all sorts of attachments could be hung off my frame..............................................different sized trowels....................... my ikea stepstool...................... wine cooler.................. industrial strength French Manicure set. The list is endless.
