Penners, its all economics. Regulations push up prices. As does open bribery in terms of planning gain and insisting on low cost elements on developments of a certin size. In terms of land usage, presumably builders would be forced to build terraces rather than waste a few meangingless feet between so called detached houses. Which was how it used to be....
It just seems to me that if we think we need to dictate how a house is built in terms of safety etc why not legislate for a minimium decent size of house. Some people argue that a lack of living space contributes to some social problems. That seems slightly more important than insiting on a minimum height of a bannister etc.
