AGA

Has anyone had experience of conservation officers view on AGA installations.

We want to install an AGA in the kitchen but the flue would need to exit out the front of the property. We have looked at the different options and gas still seems to be the better option if we can get a flue run that is acceptable.

Just seeing if anyone else has gone down this route.

Have you not got a chimney flue in the kitchen? Otherwise, there are other flue options---I think it is the balanced flue---that is only a small box on the outside wall, easily disguised.

Unfortunately we dont have a chimney in the kitchen and we will struggle with a balanced flue, the window is to close to any outside wall the AGA can be sited against.

Are you suggesting a flue that would exit through the roof on the front elevation of the property, or a flue that would exit though the wall to the front and then run externally up the front elevation? It's not clear from your description and I would imagine the two might be viewed quite differently by the CO.

Electric AGA - no flue required.

Yes, I was going to suggest an electric Aga I have had a 3 oven electric Aga under a window because that was the only place in the kitchen uninterrupted by doors.

Thanks everyone, having looked on the interweb and listened to the comments we have decided to call in an AGA installer to do a survey. See what they have to say - if i werent so crap with paint shop i would have drawn a layout diagram to explain the issue, but calling the AGA man is likely to be less frustrating and quicker
