A prayer to the Goddess of lime rendering...

Some lime plasterers are coming tomorrow to do the external rendering over the woodfibre boards on the upstairs of my house. Goddess of lime rendering, I know I've been a bit rubbish, not making up my mind for ages which plasterers I was going to use, and then not ordering the materials til really late, and then the suppliers messed up so the corner beading isn't going to arrive until lunchtime on the day the work is supposed to be done. I repent for my mistakes! But please please let them be good craftsmen, not bodgy workers out for a bit of extra cash at the weekend. Please please let my amateur insulation boarding be good enough. Please please can we have good weather for the weekend, not too hot and not raining? I promise I'll be really good. I could make a sacrifice if it would help? Henry is here, I could make an alter on the scaffolding and sacrifice him? I'm sure he wouldn't mind....

By all accounts lime rendering is a messy, time consuming but Eco friendly task, doesn't sound like a boy deity job :lol:

On Zebra's behalf I shall ask for assistance from all my assorted religious icons. There isn't one specifically devoted to this task in my collection, but we do have a "thousand armed Quan Yin" ( Goddess of Mercy ) which would seem highly appropriate, I have sent my avatar Helga to have a quiet word. No need to sacrifice Henry, but you could maybe dress him in a nice purple robe or other devotional garb. Offerings of tea and biscuits to the workers will also help.

I suppose a figure with a girdle of human hands and a necklace of sculls would be appropriate now you come to mention it, but I don't have a Kali, plenty of Ganesha and a Lakshmi instead.

Says here in my big book of Gods and Goddesses of DIY and Construction: electrics has a God; plumbing a Goddess; timber and carpentry a God; plastering a Goddess etc etc.

Unfortunately things didn't go according to plan, due in the first instance to my failure to make a sacrifice to the God of couriers and deliveries, which meant that the stuff arrived without the mesh and beading so they couldn't do it yesterday.

Then the plasterer said he would come today instead but I just had a text saying he isn't.

Henry however is loving parading around the place in his new purple robe- look what you've started LadyA...

Steico Protect H. I've got two layers, a 60mm and a 40mm. Using the proprietary render system to go with them. Will let you know how it goes.

I've had a Plaster Disaster.

Entire rear elevation all slid off onto the ground. Suppliers' screw-up, but hopefully they're putting it right.

Another week goes by though, and the nights are getting chilly now.....

Loathe to besmirch the company's name as they are hopefully getting it sorted but basically some bags were wrongly labelled at their depot, and hence the wrong stuff was sent out. A clerical error not a fault of the product. Hooves crossed that new delivery of extra stuff turns up tomorrow.
JohnOB, I don't think bees are any good at plastering I'm afraid.

Good for you. Everyone gets something wrong occasionally, the only person who never gets anything wrong is the person who never does anything. To my mind the measure of a good company is often how they respond when things don't go quite according to plan.
