May I convey huge thanks to everyone who has contributed suggestions?

After much trawling through the recommended sites, Son found the place of his dreams. But, having asked for more pictures and then immediately tried to book it, he found that someone had just pipped him to the post.

So I sent frantic messages about Nemesis's suggestion, only to find that he had just found and booked somewhere else that ticked all the boxes.

So Son and lovely girl-friend will, thanks to PPUK, be enjoying a new year's idyll somewhere in (I think) Derbyshire.

In the course of a hurried 'phone call yesterday evening all I learned was that it's somewhere in the Pennine/Derbyshire Dale area. The poor lad was trying to talk to me with his mobile tucked under one ear while he was packing up his marimba ready for a gig, so I'll have to save my in-depth cross-examination until some time when he's able to give me his full attention.

Then I'll report back in detail.
