I'm sure there must be a way we can filter our rain water Moo, yes. The well water already goes through a very sophisticated device, and has been tested as being safe.
How to get more water and especially during long periods of drought is the issue.
Toby - mains is about a mile away. We spent several thousand already on having a mains pipe laid and then were told by Anglian Water that in order to create sufficient pressure to get it up the hill we'd need to build a pumping station, one mile from our house, to push the water up the hill. I'm sure it could be done but it could be many many tens of thousands. Bringing the water over from the flatter part would be vastly expensive too. It's more feasible for a housing estate, less feasible for one house to be able to afford it.
