Apologies for my tardiness in wishing one and all a happy and healthy new year, but I've been having my own 'ouch' moments during the recent festivities after suffering a torn retina on the weekend before Christmas. Four laser treatments later and it is hopefully repaired, most importantly, with no loss of vision. It's quite amazing what they can do these days but I have to say it's these sort of things that puts life in perspective!

No bungee-jumping, just age I'm sorry to say. Well, that and the added risk-factor of being short-sighted.

Apparently, as we age, the 'jelly' in the eye naturally shrinks back and separates from the retina. In some cases, it sticks to the retina and the tension builds up until something gives.

Speaking as a fellow myopic, and a somewhat aged one at that, I am familiar with that problem. It's the same condition that can introduce 'floaters' into your line of vision.

I'm very glad to hear that a zapping with a laser has sorted you out. What an amazing device that is, considering it no applications whatsoever when it was first invented.
