Yhere was a rusted metal plate bent over and holding the door in place when we discovered it, but everything collapsed or had to be hurriedly dismantled before we could find its purpose. It obvioulsy helped to support the floor and front of the oven, as they overhang the stone by about 30cm, but have no idea what it would have originally looked like as yet. More research needed
