Gosh - I have a feeling we may have said a few unkind things about Tesco on here also...
Hmmmmm.
Hmmmmm.
It always makes me smile when people consider the taxpayer has been 'deprived' when somebody quite legally minimises their tax bill. If you're so worried about 'us' being deprived why not volunteer to pay more tax than you need to? No, thought not - so why expect anyone else to pay more than they legally need to?biffvernon said:Nice article in this morning's Grauniad about how and why Tesco is trying to sue said paper over allegations that Tescos's complex off-shore ownership structure deprives us, the taxpayers, of £100 million, alledgedly. Apparently a Cayman Island base is the key to running a supermarket.

Glad we cleared that up thenbiffvernon said:Nemesis is not daft and in this instance precisely right. I am, of course, a Tesco shareholder and carry the Clubcard about my person at all times. I am planning a move to the Cayman Islands from where to pursue my joinery business unhindered by the petty inconvenience of having to pay taxes.
Aha - gotcha! Where are you going to introduce the cement? A nice exterior render, perhaps?Nemesis said:It's on the list... along with so much else. Like the cement.
Oh my word! I forgot what you posted last week?? :shock:Nemesis said:Removal of - as in the pics I posted last week.
Huh - you haven't seen our place. A symphony in OPC and gypsum. Mea non culpa.Nemesis said:I can't see how anyone could forget the horror pics of our cementy pointing.
Jon Maine said:Railings, my design, corner posts milled by local engineer, points and stays all smithed on site by Graham Smithhttp://www.snailstoves.moonfruit.com/#. The top and bottom rails were laser cut by a company from Burton on Trent called Harvey Cooke who were very profesional. All the smaller uprights were salvaged from secondhand wrought iron railings from Kent via ebay. Lot of effort but a great result just how we wanted them.
In my regular periodical , The Private Eye, it seems Mr Tesco is also suing a reporter in the far east for £1.6m for saying that Tescos expansion was aggressive. Apparently the reporter would have been paid about £16 for the article!!
