Thank you all for the compliments, Not be in for my birthday sadly but will be in around July time the ironwork is being made in India as we speak so that will be arriving about July time to so we can fit curtains, lights and doors.

Windows a mixture of conserved origional stone and new. It has all been sheltercoated, i.e. a mixture of lime stone dust and caesin. This protects the stone and allows it to weather in , new and old at a similar rate. It also helps the new stone calcify on the surface rather than letting the weather get betwen the pores of a freshly quarried stone which could drastically reduce the stability of the stone. It is a sacraficial coating and probably will not be replaced when it has worn away. St Cuthberts church in Wells (the church featured in hot fuzz) was shelter coated entirely when the tower was restored. Known locally for a while as St Custards strangely enough.

Wheelie bin is feeling lonely, it used to have two partners who recently absconded one with a lid, the other without. Quite useful though whatever we were not able to recycle or reuse from the construction process went through the three bins. We have not had a single rubbish skip on the whole project.

Of course I forgot to mention the fourth wheelie bin, in the north east courtyard. No rubbish in this one its our very effective putty lime storage facility! 8) Works very well.

Don't worry about putting lime putty in your wheelie bin. You can put whatever you like in it.

But if the lid won't close, then you're in big trouble...

Nice article in this morning's Grauniad about how and why Tesco is trying to sue said paper over allegations that Tescos's complex off-shore ownership structure deprives us, the taxpayers, of £100 million, alledgedly. Apparently a Cayman Island base is the key to running a supermarket.

I used to live in the Cayman Islands and ironically their supermarkets leave a lot to be desired!

Anyway, nice railings - where did you get them from?

Railings, my design, corner posts milled by local engineer, points and stays all smithed on site by Graham Smithhttp://www.snailstoves.moonfruit.com/#. The top and bottom rails were laser cut by a company from Burton on Trent called Harvey Cooke who were very profesional. All the smaller uprights were salvaged from secondhand wrought iron railings from Kent via ebay. Lot of effort but a great result just how we wanted them.

In my regular periodical , The Private Eye, it seems Mr Tesco is also suing a reporter in the far east for £1.6m for saying that Tescos expansion was aggressive. Apparently the reporter would have been paid about £16 for the article!!
