Hi all. I'm after some advice from anyone who knows about external lime render.
Last year we had the cement render removed from our chalk cob house and replaced with a lime render. The work was completed in October and we had planned to paint it ourselves but by the time we had given it time to cure we couldn't get a decent break in the weather so decided to wait until spring.
In late December some of the lime started crumbling off the walls. The guys who did it said it was frost damage and they would need to remove a thin layer and re-plaster. They are coming back to do it tomorrow but it looks like the damage has extended a bit. There are sections where it is not crumbling off but there are small cracks and little holes have developed. I'm worried they are going to try to do the bare minimum they can get away with to repair it, and not sure if we should be getting them to replace all the bits where it is starting to crack? I'm also a bit paranoid that if they fix it and we paint it this summer it may continue to come off. I was just looking for advice on how best to proceed from anyone with knowledge of lime render.
Thanks in advance
Photos attached show where it's crumbling, but last 2 are where it is not so bad but still lots of squiggly cracks.
