Hi,
It's got to the stage of refurbisment when i need to think about the floors. We have already made the decision to have solid wood flooring downstairs as we have two wood burners and it just seems much more practical than carpet.
What are your opinions on new oak flooring? Does the laquered flooring tend to get scratched easily? (obviously the companies selling it say its so hard-wearing you can't even mark it if u tried...?). Is it a better idea to get the brushed and oiled planks rather than the laquered ones? Does laquered or oiled oak age better?
or:
would you go with re-claimed flooring? I am toying with the idea simply because the new boards seem so hassle free - and there is only so much time and effort i'm prepared to put into our first house - which i'm sure we will be selling). Also i'm sure reclaimed oak for example will be much more expensive than new stuff. Plus as a lot of the rest of the house is reclaimed i think the new/old look will look fine.
Your expertese will be much apretiated
cheers, joe
