...you start getting serious about your pension planning? Yep, done that, but no, that's not what I meant.

I stripped the completely rotten flat roof off the porch of my house over the bank holiday weekend - it was totally shot, joists and all, far worse than I thought once the ceiling came down. Surprised that neither I nor the window cleaner had ever put a foot through it. Anyway, first of all getting the old felt off was a devil of a job - and secondly, the roof is a fair way up, so I was up and down my scaffold tower all weekend doing it.

By the end of Monday, I had a new roof but I was shattered. Today, I'm still shattered. My arm muscles ache. My back aches.

The kids are right - I *am* getting old! :lol:

I have to agree, oh to be fifty again, my brain thinks i’m Still thirty, but every year now the the roof on Gothichome seem to be just a bit higher.

I'm 42 and tasks I accomplished easily at 24 are still doable, but I definitely hurt more the day after. It's particularly noticeable as the last time I did this sort of DIY I was 24 so it hasn't been so much a gradual change as a step shift.

It's not fitness, I was never really fit and I'm still wearing some of the same clothes, except back then they were for best and now they are strictly DIY only

I put my foot in it when a 55yo friend of mine got a zippy little sports car and told me it was her mid-life toy. I commented that I thought she had left it a bit late in life for that sort of thing. Still have memories of the bruises I received for that

Actually, it's a bit of an old man's bike. You know a biker is getting old when he starts considering riding a BMW :lol:
