Thanks so much for the good wishes, and yes,it's been a pretty damn good day (apart from the fact that my grandson, due to put in an appearance on the day, is still overdue. However, I'm a proper grown-up now, and don't mind unwrapping my birthday presents a day or so late.) As a consolation present I had the good news that, after three months of tests, some brilliant surgery, and a week in hospital, I am now declared cancer-free. One of the blessings of living in SE22 is that it's only a short commute to Kings College and Guys hospitals, and the galleries and theatres, and thanks to the blessed NHS and my Freedom Pass none of it costs a penny. (And I get free gym membership while I get the body used to operating with a bit less lung)
