My home is about 750 meters back from the sea and although it is fairly well shielded by neighbouring properties, one particular corner is a little exposed in that it catches any weather that comes whistling up the adjacent street. This street runs straight down to the sea so any rain/wind that blows up it is no doubt salt ridden. Likewise this corner also catches the sun from early morning well into the afternoon. This exposed corner of the property is brick and lime mortar (1817) and the lime pointing is always being weathered away. I know it’s usually frowned upon on this forum but would it be prudent in this particular instance to re point the affected corner with a hydraulic lime mortar?
P.S. I’m only talking South coast of England here not Outer Hebrides
