woodworms in windowframes

i understand that if we get our house nice and dry, it will send the little woodworms packing (Eventually)

what about the woodworm in the Outside of the windowframes? we'll never get them dry enough surely?

I may have been the person responsible for telling all and sundry wood worm don't like the dry. Before you paint, wait for a dry spell (so thats next April I presume...) apply a wood hardener (like Ronseal for example) if the worm damage has made the wood friable in places (if you do not want to cut a new piece in) fill with 2 pack wood filler and try applying a microporous paint that will let your wood breathe and let any trapped moisture out to prevent the paint from bubbling and flaking.
