Woodwash on floorboards

I am in the process of restoring a room and the floorboards are in excellent condition, apart for a bit of filling that is needed.

I bought some woodwash upon advice but wonder if it will be durable enough to take the wear and tear on a floor.

Would you advise glossing it over?

I assume this is not Woodwash the cleaner used for cleaning floors etc?

If it is the Cuprinol Woodwash floor paint/stain I wouldn't use it.
When painted the wood will appear as if it covered by a veil of paint showing every brush mark and different thickness of application.
The wood grain will be mostly lost under a wash/smear of false colour.

You would do your floor a favour (and all your hard work) if you used a clear varnish. I have several floors that are over 15 years since varnished and they still look good.
Waxing the wood is a more regular treatment but precludes varnishing later and needs to be regularly reapplied.
I don't recommend that you use an acrylic varnish (water based) as it will dry too quickly on the floor and it will be difficult to avoid brush marks.
Make sure you have a window open when varnishing and that you are near the door when finished!

If this is a tinted varnish, such things are the devil on floors. Floors take a lot of wear, and every scratch and chip will show up as a light colour amid a dark background. If this is they type of product, it will soon look awful. Any type of tinted varnish has the same problem.

I'm a great fan of OSMO coatings for floors. Their polyx waxoil is very easy to apply, fairly quick drying, low odour, and doesn't show brushmarks. Also very easy to give a refresher coat or spot - patch the surface in the future.
No connection to the company, just really impressed by the products. Pretty good environmental credentials too.

I hestitate to comment but wouldn't it be better to use 'Trip Trap' Lye - its what Swedish use on their floorboards and would give I believe a Limed finish that is both attractive and hard wearing.Try Holkham Linseed paints they're great for advice.

I had old pine floor boardsin a house of mine and I bitterly regretted varnishing them - they looked orange and also ever scratch showed up.
