Have stripped all the varnish off again. Would appreciate advice on the best type of finish for maple floor that appears to have some wax still in the wood (the varnish reacted to something I'm assuming old wax in the wood)
I've just stripped all of my floors and finished them with Osmo Polyx Oil (clear, satin). Can be used of wood and cork floors and all internal joinery. It's a lovely finish and my floors are now waterproof and the satin finish gives the look of waxed floors without the hard work. Having discovered this product I will never use anything else again!
ditto, having waxed the old fashioned way on the bedroom floor, several coats of beeswax+turps with a good polish between them (dancing around the floor with dusters under my feet in my case!) I can definatly recomment poly-x, brings out the colour of the wood wonderfully and leaves a good sheen without all the extra aerobic exercise..
