hi thanks everyone for your thoughts re rayburns and heating, think cost to run (oil) may be prohibiting factor.
have though just seen an advert for an esse 'woodfyre' that can run heating and water and runs on wood. wood is not a problem for me as my hubby is tree surgeon so got endless supplies. what has put me off in past is thinking they would be difficult to keep going - i have had multifuel stoves for heating in the past and a parkray and was constantly monitoring them to keep temp right. i thought with wood you would be putting more on every couple of hours - meaning if you leave house for any length of time - your cooker/heating goes out. however , write up on this seems to say it can run for 12 hours on one load of wood.
has anyone any thoughts or experiences of these?
thanks again
