Hi,
I posted a topic earlier about using external wall insulation on a 300 year old timber framed cottage. After researching the options I have decided to have a fully breathable wall system, using as external wall insulation either a wood fibre based product such as Gutex Thermowall or Diffutherm, or wood wool boards.
If anyone has used either of these products as external wall insulation on a project like this, I would appreciate any input as to which system is best. Wood fibre is better thermally, but my fear is that I won't be able to get the upstairs (timber frame) and the downstairs (brick) totally flush, and as the proprietary render system is only millimetres thick, there won't be any room for error, whereas with the wood wool, you use normal lime render, so I'd be able to make up any lumps and bumps.
Would value the advice of someone with some expertise!
Thanks
