So, the time has come to tackle the last challenge, the living room! Original lime plaster has been skimmed with gypsum and has blown, so is all coming off.
After some eyewatering quotes for lime plastering, I am going to tackle it myself, to make things as easy as possible, I was thinking wood wool boards with an NHL skim, as I have successfully done elsewhere in the house in small repair areas.
Previously I have attached the boards directly to the walls, but to allow for services etc, this time I'm considering battening first. Any thoughts? Should I put strips of foil between the battens and the wall to protect the battens?
Or should I just stick to whacking the boards directly to the walls?
