Hi, This is likely the first of many posts after moving into a G2 listed house in Bath, it throws up many questions.

What is everyone using to paint (white) lime stone window sills? Presently they're covered in cracking paint, I suspect some rubbish non-breathable masonry.

What do you recommend?

Is the Stonelux paint the one to go with? I'd prefer a white if possible.

Ordinarily you wouldn’t paint bath stone, so I’d say scrape off and then repair any damage with an NHL based stone repair mortar.

If you really are desperate to, it would be limewash or if you don’t fancy that then silicate - Keim’s has been met with some good reviews by members of this parish.

Either way, get rid of the old paint first

Depends on the state of a paint, you can start with a scrub and then if there are leftovers or bits that aren’t shifting then a carbide scraper like the ones from bahco can be used - taking care not to gouge the stone
