Edit - the roof verge... should really have been rubbed out to show the tile edges. But having 'sacked your roofers' - a traumatic decision I guess - the aesthetic shortcoming is understandable. If, as you mention, you intend to paint the verge, the first coat needs to be a alkali resist, otherwise the paint may come off.
