window support?

I`m starting to look at the arch windows on our project and have noticed some of the existing "metal braces" that are used to support the top arch when it is open (falling inwards into the room), are not looking like they are going to last much longer. Trouble is, I haven`t a clue what they are called to be able to search on them to find some sort of replacement. Can anyone help me out?????

Could you take a pic at night, with flash? I think I can make out a "quadrant stay" in the pic, but I'm not sure. Here's one in brass:

I agree with cloudscape I know them to be called quadrant stays.

You might be lucky if you hunt around in the 'odds and ends' boxes at your local arhchitectural reclamation yards.

Just be sure to buy only from yards who subscribe to the SALVO code, to ensure that there's nothing dodgy about what you buy.
