Background: Georgian, 1st Floor
Topic: Create a 30cm x 30cm glass square in floor
Why: I found a georgian shoe
Question: What do we think about this?
If you recall, I found an old georgian shoe in the floor cavity when I lifted the floorboards. There was all that discussion about placing it in a glass box or placing it back in the floor, etc.
I was just at a museum last weekend, in an old period building, where a wall was removed some time ago -- so, in order to show off the old stack that used to exist, they created a glass window in the floor, just roughly larger than the stack. So, I thought of my lucky shoe, and since my floor is non-original anyway, it might be a nice idea. Of course, the glass has to be that special strength stuff, but, it would be interesting to keep the shoe in the floor and still have the opportunity to enjoy the history. Maybe the cost will be prohibitive, but, maybe one of you have done something similar?
