They were made by a local joinery firm. They do work UK-wide. Competitive pricing and trustworthy. Key to this was their willingness to use linseed oil paint. I sent you a PM.

Most of the installers have stated a preference for uPVC.

I see you've gone for horns on the frames. Very traditional. How were they fitted? Thet really do look superb. I have puzzled over fitting sashes, first one just wedged in by the horns which was as originally constructed but I wouldn't repeat that, it's not a good solution. Next one I skew screwed through the linings into wooden wedges in the wall, the holes being covered by architrave. This is a method copied from an old joinery book, it seems solid but I think metal brackets would have been better still.

Thanks. We haven't got that far with solving that. The photos probably flatter the install. The two tone colour does too.

Reality is that it took 6 men with several lump hampers & power drills to get them in. They're packed and wedged in, tight without fixings. Trouble is, it leaves some very large gaps & expanding foam has already been mentioned. I'm not averse to it hidden behind the decor. I don't want beading, that's for sure.

The biggest headache, are the deep holes left in the decorated walls as we pull the sills.

But, there are some very large gaps & expanding foam has already been mentioned. I'm not averse to it hidden behind the decor. I don't want beading, ihat's for sure.

The biggest headache is the huge gap with the decorated walls. Sills have been chopped out and large chunks of wall too.

Still happy though.
